Update re my father.

Hi factor30
Visited Dad this afternoon and found him in the wrong bedroom in somebody else's bed.
His glasses were in another room, his belt in yet another and his trousers in yet another room.
Met the social woker by chance.
She complained again that Dad was costing the PCT a lot of money and should really be paying his own way.
Dad's needs are health so they are not means tested but it appears the council will get you to pay if it can.

I must admit I get confused between your case, Brimoan, and that of Homes123, but I'll read up on your previous thread later and get back up to speed

I know you had a real struggle, Tilly2, over the issue of fees. There have been a lot of threads on this topic and, in between the genuine ones, some threads have seemed a little odd and been removed or the usernames have been suspended. Against this background I can understand how annoying it must be if someone wishes to raise a genuine issue on this topic and is unsure whether it will be viewed as a serious query or not.
Well said Tilly - as a (former) adviser on Alzheimer's and dementia I get pretty cross when real queries are submerged in junk.
I tend to just keep my own counsel and stay quiet - but every now & then I want to shake someone and say "stop f*cking about - this is a serious subject - go and play your f*cking stupid games somewhere else"

There's another thread here tilly2

We have chatted on here about care home fee issues and other things including Honda Jazz cars as he has one.

well i disagree tilly, although it is incredibly tiresome to read the same old guff day after day from "different" posters, i reckon there must be something underlying them - ie for example brimoan/Edger/shilam/foxley/clivepen/Amysulli
van/martinbev58/kaypar/janegray/sueday50/shar
p70/lawden58/mawby5/MOONGLOW/HANNAJAYNE52/sal
lyannem49/Marciau/Youngatheart99/bexford52
probably has had some contact with nhs funding/wills/power of attourney/social workers/alzheimers/death of parents and has in some way been screwed over, thus not enabling them to ever let it go, meaning they post over and over about it in different usernames in order to be able to answer themselves and trot out their story all over again. Ot's the only way i can make sense of why he/she does it

Hi bednobs/Tilly2 - I could probably add at least 10 other user names to that list, but I'm not sure where it would get us. As we've seen, it's easy for someone to open more accounts and keep posting this stuff.
Maybe it is useful in that it at least gets people talking about care home fee issues.
I think bednobs is probably correct in her assumption that the serial poster must have had a bad experience with Care Home Fees (and Pension scheme rules, women gold diggers, the attitude of Midlanders to Londoners, and women in men's aerobic classes).
However, I am a little puzzled in that it seems he or she wants some of us to know it's them under a new name each time- they use an identical style of writing, respond under a different name to their own questions, throw in the same expressions and, 'oddly enough', usually mention that they drive a Honda Jazz.
There is some humour in the posts and maybe it's all harmless and we should just smile and let it go or join in and play along. Don't let it get to you, Tilly2.

Hi factor 30
I only really came onto this site because I suddenly inherited a house which I did not expect and the social worker found out and said the house which is jointly owned may have to be sold.
With regard to the LPA every answer I got was I had to be reasonable but different people think different things are reasonable.
It is nice inheriting a house worth about £120,000 but not so good if you have to give up a house worth £500,000 as a result.
The house I am now in has 5 bedrooms, a double garage, a good size garden and parking for 8 cars.
The other house is a 2 up 2 down with parking on the road and a lot are rented out in that road.
I am now off to see an agent as I am likely to sell it in the near future as I do not really want to go into the rental market.

There was a good programme here on Care Home Fees and reclaiming them.
