Hair Dresser Help Needed

Hi, I've been getting my haircut by my Son's Partner for the past year. I don't like the way she cuts it but I don't like to hurt her by going with someone else. What do I do? I'm sure she would be really offended :(

A change is as good as a rest, tell her a friend of yours has a daughter doing hair at college and she's asked you to be a model.

Or, say you walked into a hairdressers on impulse, a moment of madness

Or, be completely honest, I do think hairdressers get into to a rut with their regulars and someone new can look with a fresh pair if eyes.

May be wait untill she's not available and get it cut elsewhere and then say you like it as they have done it differently

Why don't you just say straight that you fancy a change, and you haven't been to a salon for months and you fancy all the pamper experience?

^^ I have a home hairdresser btw and when I'm on holiday, I love to go to a local salon for a whole experience of being looked after!

You could say a friend at work had asked if anyone was willing to be a model at a local salon where her relative has just started working. That way you would look like you we're doing a friend a favour! Or you could get it cut whilst your daughter in law was on holiday and pretend you couldn't wait until she got back. Or say a friend has given you a voucher for a local salon so you are going for a treat...... The possibilities are endless.

Is that just for a set or blowdry though or do you get it cut too? If she was just a home hairdresser it would be easier. She is my Son's g/f (future daughter in law)

Nora, I have a trim or cut each time (home or away), then a blowdry - I am no good at all at doing my own hair. Having it finished in a salon is a treat. Just bon honest nora, you can't have her doing your hair for the rest of your days, if she's marrying your son.

Hiya NoraBatty....I am a hairdresser... and I do my mother in laws hair... If she were to say she wanted to try some one - somewhere else.. I wouldn't be offended.. I sometimes feel the whole family expect me to make her look good...which I try to do.. she always seems happy... !! she might feel a teensy bit under pressure to always make sure you look and feel great...so I'm sure if you said you wanted to try somthing different.. she wouldn't mind a bit !!! Presumably, you don't pay her. Perhaps she's fed up with doing other people's hair for no money and would be relieved if you went to someone else. If I were a hairdresser I think I might resent family members asking me for free cuts.

You could say you got some vouchers from a friend for a new salon in town, and thought you'd try it out - after you "use the vouchers", just keep raving about how good a job they did, and it's a friend of a friend from school days or something, so you get a right good chin wag with old friend's too!!!!!???

I think that the "friend gave you a voucher" sounds believable, and I think that you can use that excuse without causing any offence.
