Cockney slang is always a couplet but only the 1st part is spoken.
Examples Apples and pears = Apples= Stairs ( only' apples' is spoken)
'Pony' is the second part of pony and trap so only 'pony' is spoken, trap 'rhymes with cr@p , so ' pony' is cockney slang for cr@p or the less polite word for poo.
My little Pony has a totally different meaning for those born within the sound of Bow Bells.

Lazysmurf - if you are happy with your life and do not find it disruptive to keep it private from you parents, then carry on as you are.

But, you say you want to tell them, and so bite the bullet and I am sure they will understand and love you just as they did before - remember though , we have no knowledge at all of your parent's temperaments.
