Which Should I Protect Friendship Or Myself?
15 Answers
My friend told her cousin's secret to me and his cousin found out about that and asked me a lot of questions. His cousin get mad at her for doing that and my friend asked me for help. Of course I said ok to her. She told me to not say a thing to her cousin while she told him that she never told anyone about it. As a result, after two days, the two of them made up but his cousin now thinks that I lied. Should I just let him think that I lied or should I tell him the truth? but my friend would be mad at

@neljea06 If this friend can't even keep her own relatives' private lives secret, then you will know better than to trust them with your secrets. It may seem like fun and 'proof' that they are your special pal but that really is a sign that they're trying too hard to impress you. If this friend gives you something in your life which you value then by all means hang onto them and let the cousin think you are a liar. That should be no loss to you.

Although I did misread the opening post as
"My friend told her cousin's secret to me and this cousin found out…"
instead of
"My friend told her cousin's secret to me and his cousin found out…".
Which means four people: -
neljea
neljea's friend (female)
friend's cousin, with the secret (male)
cousin's cousin, who got angry (male).
So I am confused!

This doesn't seem to make sense.
If the talked about cousin found out it can only be because either your friend or you told them. No one else is involved. If your friend told their cousin then they can hardly deny it later, and since you could only have confirmed what the cousin asked you about later, it makes no sense to consider you as having lied. On the other hand, if you told then clearly you knew so how would you have found out except from your friend ? And what point would there have been lying to drop your friend in it ? That makes no sense either.
I'd suggest forgetting the whole thing. It'll be part of a foolish forgotten past soon enough.
