My dad was just lovely. He couldn't give you a thing as in money - worked hard all his life in a foundry - sista and I were two daughters - he never yelled, hit us, nothing - he controlled with his eyes.

At 9.00pm I was 13 - he just looked at the clock telling me it was time for bed. That was it. He was just lovely

My Dad passed away in June last year after an eighteen month battle with cancer.
He was always supportive of his family and dearly missed by all.
It was heart wrenching watching him degrade physically then mentally but he refused to give up until the last day.
They gave us the chance to be who we are and that is a wonderful thing - I still glow when someone says to me 'You remind me of your Dad'.
My Dad died 48 years ago on my 22nd birthday.Asbestos dust killed him.He was a lovely Dad,and being the youngest of five I was a bit spoilt by him. I didn't have him for long enough and still miss him even after all these years.
it doesn't get easier, sadly. I suppose we were all lucky though.
If we had parents who tried their best we are indeed very lucky.
