My elderly mum lives in a flat alone. I have read her metre reading and for the last month it has been exceptionally high.
We can’t understand why obviously I’m not living there so I don’t know what she keeps on she also has dementia so doesn’t remember what she has on all day or night.
I was thinking perhaps metre is faulty how do I check this out?

Just how much has the reading gone up? The only things I can think of to produce a *large* increase would be electric oven/hob/grill or maybe an electric fan heater. Can your mum tell you if she has been leaving these on?

How does she heat her flat? Does she use an immersion heater for hot water?
