My OH has a daughter from a previous relationship who lives a couple of hundred miles away who turned 15 a few weeks ago, now we’re aware that he has to pay CS while ever she is in full time education. However, as it turns out. She dropped out of school about 6 months ago as she was being bullied. Now she’s supposed to be studying herself at home apparently which isn’t being done.. and as it turns out she’s rarely ever home.. She’s chosen to live with her grandparents (who receive no support financially for her) Now my question is.. Does my OH still have to pay the mother this CS when she is no longer in education? As he’d much rather it be sent to the grandparent!!
i dont think its the education that counts here (she IS still in FTE despite the fact she's not doing it at home - she could hardly get a full time job!). However, i think the guardian thing will count - can he get in touch with them and the mum to explain he'll be paying it to the GP?
I would advise your OH to stop payments to the mother and arrange a DD for the same amount to the grandparents. Let the mother throw a wobbly and contact CS, then your OH can explain to them the situation. I take it the grandparents are Paternal not Maternal?
Do not stop paying until the CSA agency has been contacted too many times I have seen what happens when payment has been stopped without communication even if a valid reason
