calmck - // Anti abortionists consider a foetus a human being despite it not being able to exist outside of the mothers body. Why they insist that a rape victim should carry a baby to term is beyond me. Also why should a child who is severely disabled or who will die shortly after birth be born. To me it is kinder for both child and parents for that pregnancy to be terminated legally and as painlessly as possible //
I think the moral dilemma of terminating a pregnancy is one of the most difficult we can experience as human beings.
We can all carry our moral beliefs about the rights and wrongs of termination, and the time scales involved.
But I have always believed that the choice can only ever belong to the woman involved.
It is she who has to deal with the consequences, whichever decision she makes, and for anyone else to take that choice away from her, however good their reasons may appear to be, is morally bankrupt.
