Engagement
8 Answers
Me and boyfriend both live and work together. We’ve been together around a year. It’s been very tumultuous and there have been times where I find him to be too much. I’ve never been into massive public displays of affection. When discussing marriage I’ve always said if he ever did it at work I’d say no. Well the time came for a customer Christmas party. My boyfriend and some other colleagues were the entertainment. It’s starting to wrap up when my boss decides to give a speech thanking all my colleagues then she hands the mic to my boyfriend who then asks me to marry him. I say yes. But now I’m unsure of whether I said yes to save him the embarrassment I front of our colleagues and 40-50 customers. Do I sit him down and tell him I’ve reconsidered or do I carry on with the engagement?

But, I wouldn’t be happy if my OH had asked me in front of loads of people, either.
If you have really reconsidered and don’t want to marry him, you should tell him. Otherwise you’ll soon be planning the wedding while feeling that you don’t want this, and it’ll get harder to extricate yourself.
