I started work at 18 and met a fellow work colleague. He was obviously older than me but I didn’t know just how old at the time.
We quickly became great friends, discovering we had the same sense of humour, political views, food preferences, likes and dislikes etc. We could chat for hours without any secrecy or embarrassment.
After just a couple of dates in the local pub we both knew we had found “the one” and he proposed. We married within the year.
I am now approaching the 40th anniversary of a perfect time with my hubby who is 17 years older than me.

Could be the little girl next door though Barry. If a 17 year old is fond ofthe little girl next door who is 2, when she reaches adulthood and he's 33 would it be wrong if they suddenly found love. I know someone that happened to! I would consider it lovely and not at all iffy. I wouldn't be thinking about what sort of feelings he had for her during her growing up years. That would be odd.

Barry wd actually courted if you can call it that for 6 weeks. We were friends with benefits for about a year before but no committed relationship. We decided to get married one drunken night in Spain and married 6 weeks later. I had never met his parents and he hardly knew mine. We have been married for 52 years the week after next. Everyone is different and there are no right or wrong ways. He is also now my carer
