I thought you'd headed this man off before - I'm sure we had discussions about him, whether he was a man's man, what that meant etc. Why do you let him 'take you out a lot'?

No I don't mind now and again I just don't want it to come across as creepy

Do you want to go to the rock concert?  If so take him up on his offer.

Make sure that he knows that you just want to be friends with him.   There is nothing wrong in having friends of the opposite sex.

I thought you were avoiding him? Why accept the watch?

Didn't know he was buying so didn't wanna be rude

I thought he had a crush on you.  If you are not interested in him, make sure he knows it and tell him not to buy you any more gifts.   If you want to go to the concert with him, pay for your own ticket.

Give the watch back, and tell him you feel uncomfortable accepting it.

Have you said you'll go to the rock concert?

Personally I wouldn't get in a car with him. If you decide to go to a concert get someone to ring you to make sure you're OK

He might have a crush on you but if you don't like him taking you out a lot why do you accept his invitations?  The age thing is irrelevant.  You're both adults.

I thought you were leaving where you know him from?

Abbey, you're asking if he has a crush on you but if you're accepting his invitations without making it clear that you are just a friend, you are possibly giving him the wrong signals.   He may be 60 plus but age really is irrelevant.  Being 60 plus doesn't stop a man fancying women and wanting a girlfriend.

Especially one with a wardrobe to suit any social event.

It comes across as creepy

I've twice been to tribute band concerts with a chap from the village .  OH doesn't care for that sort of thing.  I  pay for my own ticket, he does the driving and I buy the half-time drinks.

All that is absolutely fine, you could do the same - but the buying and accepting of a watch is  different. I would give it back and say that it makes you feel uncomfortable and that you don't want him  to buy you gifts.

//He has stopped offering me lifts pr asking me to go out for lunch or places with him.//

Abbey.  It doesn't come across as creepy.  You're not a child, you're an adult.

this comes across as really creepy - you cant accept gifts from someone you dont care for

Did you ask him what he meant when he said '' I might not like him by this time next year ''?

If that was me I would want to know

Just been reading this and I think it was odd of him to that say you might not like him by this time next year- did he give you a reason why/did you ask him?  Obviously, you know him better than people on this site do so go with your gut instincts.

The situation doesn't sit well with me
