My question is as follows

Will someone please explain the anagram fodder  and anagram indication of this Sunday Times Cryptic Crossword Clue January 19th 2025

Surplus ball on several deliveries of balls

The answer is Overspill

several deliveries of balls is over or overs as in cricket.

I can only assume ball also = pill or spill but would need to work out why

There's  no anagram in that clue.

Found this meaning of pill:

A solid or hollow spherical or egg-shaped object that is kicked, thrown, or hit in a game

I agree with Tilly- no anagrams are involved. I can't see anything close to an anagram.
