A frined is due to get married in just under 2 weeks. He's really fretting over the groom's speech. Are there any good websites/or does anyone have any pointers for a speech?

It'll still be one of the best days of his life (for me, second only to the birth of little OBonio). I would recommend doing the speeches before the food aswell, otherwise nerves will put him off his food. Also, he needs to remember that everyone there is there for THEM on THEIR special day. Indulge them and just enjoy the day.
Also, a couple of brandies may help *hic* ;o)

I think people freak out too much about this whole speech thing at weddings. (Of course, if women did the speeches there would be no problems... ;) He should just speak from the heart. It's not a performance, he just needs to talk about his feelings and remember he's amongst friends and family. Hope he has a great time!
When i got married (the first time) my then husband said it was probably ONE of the happiest days of his life and later in the speech he forgot my name!! I should have known at that point that this marriage was never going to last!! Actually i think i did. Second time round my wonderful husband kept it really short and sweet because it was much more our day the way we wanted it instead of a load of pomp and ceremony to please the old relatives. Tell him to just enjoy himself
Having a dad that used to write speeches for a living helped me.
But seriously, he should visit the reception venue, with someone else who should stand at the back of the room to see if he can be heard, without shouting.
If you have never made a speech, the tendency is to shout instead of projecting your voice, especially if you are nervous. The best thing is to use a microphone, like I did.
Don't bother making jokes and write down your speech, there is nothing wrong with reading it off a piece of paper.
