My father has recently died but has left no will. He had a small amount of savings and also life assurance policies which some of them date back to 1952. My sister is down as his next of kin. There are just two siblings and I am wondering if I should be eligible to half

Yes you are both eligible to half
could be wrong, but if no will is left it should be split 50/50 btween you both
