overcrowding problem in council flat.
6 Answers
I am having problems with my local council I live in a 1 bedroomed flat with my partner and our 2 year old I also have a baby on the way due in June. I am epileptic and have also recently been diagnosed as having depression ( this situation is to much for me) I cant sleep get tearful quickly and dont seem to be coping very well.
I got my doctor to write to council and they replied with thanks for the letter but we have more people in worse positions then you, they told me that I am not overcrowded yet as my daughter is only classed as half a person as she is only 2 and will only be classed as a full person in her own right when she is 10 also my new baby wont even be classed as a half person until she is 18 months old so even when my new born has arrived I will have to wait till shes 18 months old to be technically 1 person overcrowded (2 little ones classed as half person each) until shes 18 months they see it as I only have 1 child here. Also every school holiday I have my step daughter who is 7 come but they dont take her into consideration at all because we dont get child benefit for her her mum does. So every holiday from june I am going to have 3 children here but only 1 will count!! I think seeing as there are soooo many families out there now with step children staying in there homes this should be taken into consideration! Ok I understand that some people only have there step kids 1 - 2 times a year but I have my step daughter every school holiday for all of the holiday so in summer 6 weeks!!

I was given a 2 bedroom because my partner had a solicitors letter stating that he had the right to have his son once a week! Perhaps if u have a letter like that (custody/divorce settlement) you can show this to the council as i did!
If not try and get one!
Hope this helps and good luck

Do you take medication for the epilepsy or is it quite mild?
You will manage fine in a 1 bed flat with 2 kids. Ok so the 7 year old will be more of a struggle but look on the bright side as you won't have her all the time.
I am sorry to hear you are getting down but think of the situations most other people in the world are in- there are those who have no home or live in shacks etc... with multiple children.
Get out in the spring sunshine and enjoy being alive- think of your flat as a cosy little place and make the best of it.
Also stop having kids- if you want children then you need to be able to pay for them and not expect tax payers like me to fund your council house !
