well my friend recently tried hedrin and said it was brilliant,
when my daughter got them I used to slop her hair full of conditioner and then comb it out with a nit comb (any chemist will sell them) you have to do it every couple of days for 2 weeks to get all the little blighters.
my friend said hedrin made them literally slide out of her sons hair on their own! (although I havent tried it myself personally)
when my sons caught it from my daughter I cut their hair to a number 1 which was easier than combing as they have no patience, there hair has grown back pretty quick.
primary school children tend to be full of headlice from about 3-9 years old, when she goes to nursery or school its advisable to keep her hair in plaits or ponytail away from her face to prevent other kids giving her headlice, believe it or not there are a lot of parents who dont bother treating it!!
If it's the first time she has them use lyclear or something similar. Then condition her hair every other day and go through with a knit comb for about a week.
Oh they are horrible little critters, my daughter came home form school every fortnight with a head full, she had thick curly hair and trying to get a nit comb through it was agony, Lyclear is good, but ordinary conditioner is just as good but you must use a nit comb to break off the eggs which gather round the back of the ears where it is warmest. I really kicked up and went as far as involving the local health authorities because some families just didn't bother and so their kids were infesting the ones that were trying to beat the problem. I think the nit nurse should be re-introduced! At least the whole school was doused at the same time! Oooooo now I've gone all itchy!!!!
My daughter would catch them all the time, from her day centre, apart from supposed cures like Full Marks, the best thing we found, was Coconut spray from Boots, other Chemists probably sell it also,. the Lice can't get a grip, and fall off.
I know that! Despite being slightly dim I can read!
I was just pondering out loud, plus...once she clears the lice from her daughters noggin, missy might appreciate a way to keep the little ******* at bay dont ya think?
Tea tree oil is the best natural thing to use. You can put it into any old conditioner and then comb for an interminable length of time. Eventually they will go, but you never quite stop scratching!
yep, tea tree shampoo to keep them at bay and regular comb throughs with a conditioner and the trusty old nit comb! Damn things are a nightmare though! Bring back the nit nurse i say!.
Hedrin is brilliant!! My daughter has severe eczema on her scalp and so the lice make problems worse. All the other treatments hurt the eczema sites but Hedrin was tolerated perfectly with no pain!! Hair stays oily for a few days...
Hedrin is brill...it is expensive though 12.00 a bottle..I have used it on my two kids..it is silicone based they do slide out and it drowns them. But you have to reaply 7 days later for full affect...my kids stopped itching within an hour of using it...
My daughter got lice alot when she was younger, I found that the most reliable cheap method is to get a bottle of vegtable oil and a knit comb. saturate the hair in oil then leave it in braids for the night, next morning just comb out all the dead bugs and eggs. Then wash hair thoroughlly.Works wonders for very few $$
both my kids have caught them from school. don`t use first marks its crap and doesn`t work. hedrin is good and also coming them out with conditioner. to prevent them coming back spray your childs hair with tea tree oil diluted with a little water. nits hate it.
My daughter caught head lice at primary school, when she had waist length hair. Conditioners and proprietary shampoos didn't work and were a real chore for us both. What worked for us was a battery driven fine tooth comb, from Boots. It made a little "zzzap" sound when it encountered a little creeper, as I combed her hair with it. It was much easier to use, and was incredibly satisfying as we had audio feedback as to our success!
Hi, i found that my 2 children was getting them often and asked a friend what she used and she recommended using quassia chips, they're very cheap which was a bonus luckily i've not had to use them yet but she said they're fantastic plus its natural.
