Yes. I'm from that area, and if you have any inkling of the area you were from (Wexford is a town as well as a county, so you need to have some idea) and what the family name is, you need to contact the county records office held in the County Clinic, Grogan's Road, Wexford. Phone +353 53 9123522 .
If that fails it may be because a lot of records of that era and before are held in churches in Ireland - they held parish records of baptisms, deaths, marriages. You can contact the church in the area. If you are indeed looking for someone from the town of Wexford, contact the Parish Priest at either Rowe Street or Bride Street churches, they all live in the presbytry in School Street (+353 53-9122055).

If you need any more help, post back and I'll try find out more. Don't forget, if the search is outside the town of Wexford you'll need help in the particular parish, but contact Grogan's Road first. (9-5)
also, if you're not sure of your mother's identity, this may help point you in the right direction.

Can I ask if you know your mother's family name?
Also, do you know which convent?

i was born DAVID FITZGERALD 10.03.56
In that case they'll have your birth cert and this will state your mother's name and address, and you can take it from there. Wexford is a small town, so you can even try the phone book!

...click "residential" on that page.

thanks but i dont know my mums name
is your mum's name not on your birth registration? You had top be registered within six weeks of birth, and unless someone else registered you, the name should be there, you say you were left at age 1, and so there should be a civil registration for you.
He could have been at the convent for 10 months though. Did they know who your mother was?

Its an amazing tale and I wish you all the best x x
this is where you can order your original full birth certificate from:
