My sister has just asked me if I think her 10 year old daughter is too young to shave her legs? her legs are noticably hairy and comments have been made at school. any thoughts?
I had this trouble with daughter when she was still at primary and i didn't want her to shave them, so i know it sounds silly but we went over them with my husbands hair clippers so they were shorter!! Then finally in the summer hols before she went to BIG school i bought her a lady shave. This solved the problem in our house. Bless her!!
My daughter was exactly the same - at around 9 or 10 she suddenly began to resemble a human gorilla. I took the same route as ALY. A year or so later she asked if she could have a go with my home waxing kit and took to it like a duck to water. By the age of 12 she was proficient at waxing her own legs, underarms & bikini line. By the time she was 14 she had her own little business waxing her friends legs!
Surely if she's got hairy legs she's not too young to shave?!! I don't mean with a razor - goodness knows I've cut myself badly with one in the past but with a lady shaver or even a hair removing cream.
spudqueen's right - you start shaving when you're hairy. In my day 12-year-olds didn't have bikini lines, but people mature a lot younger now (girls, anyway, boys aren't quite so quick). But maybe it'd be kinder to start with cream?
I also said to my self when my daughter was bothered by her hairy legs then I would get her something. (she will be 10 soon)
I bought her some Veet cream that you rub on and scrape off with a plastic razor thing, it doesnt have any blades to cut herself on, adn for the last 2 weeks of term she actually wore her summer dress rather than trousers! it didnt occur to me before that this was why she always wore trousers to school!
