how much can one take!

Was called by my sister, whilst sitting on a damp playing field watching my son do laps for charity, that my a) mum's cancer has come back, and b) dad needs a flipping pace maker and has been hospitalised. Mum is due to go on hols with my brother and his smug wife on Sunday. I'm 'daddy & dog' sitting from Saturday till Wednesday. What happens if t all kicks off and I'm stuck with kids in the middle of the night... I actually live 3 hours drive away so feel that I have to do this for my mum so sh can have a break, but what if dad needs extra help...

Sorry to hear about your paren's health problems, there may be some tough times ahead and you will feel the strain. Hope your brother will help you shoulder some of it.
My motto this year has had to be' just wait and see what tomorrow brings'. There have been good days and terrible ones and to cope with what IS happening you need to try not to worry about what MIGHT happen. Easier said than done, I know.
You're doing a goood thing by helping out so your mum can get a break. The chances are everything will be fine with your dad but if anything should happen you will just do what you have to do. Honestly, you are stronger than you think you are and will cope!
It's also natural to be angry and upset by the news you've been given about your parents. Let it out if you can ( advice from the world's biggest hypocrite - I always feel I have to 'be strong' ) and make sure you get some time to yourself or with friends either to think/ talk things through or just to put everything out of your mind and relax, even if it's only for fifteen minutes.
Do let us know how things are going for your family. AB is always here if you need a shoulder to cry on; God knows I've been here enough myself recently. Take care of yourself. I'll be thinking of you. x

Might have to start a new thread!!
Oh my... That's not good news, I'm so sorry, you're really going through it at the moment aren't you. My mum's got cancer to, it's a very weird disease, because apart from loosing her hair she's feels normal. I hope your mum feels like this too.
Your dad needs the company? he must be scared also.
Remember you can always rant your fustrations out on us.
I'm sure you'll cope admirably.

How's everything else going?
