My mother lives only an hour away from me, but if she had ever voiced the desire to be present at my delivery, I would have told her to go to ....

You could set up some sort of a webcam maybe, but as already stated, why? Dont you like grandma?

I think it's a wonderful idea. Make a video using a video recorder. But my advice is just record the before and after bits. Leave out all the gory details
