How can I trace my Natural Grandmother?

My father was adopted in the 1950's, he was born in Ireland in 1952 and bought over for adoption by the 'Southwark Childrens Society'. He sadly passed away 6 years ago and I don't know any of his pre-adoption details other than his date of birth. Is there any way I can trace my fathers natural mother as her 'Grandchild'?
Any information to aid my search will be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.

Thank you kindly for taking the time to reply to my question, your advice is much appreciated. Having hit many 'brick walls' because I'm the Grandchild and not the adopted child, I don't hold out much hope of ever tracing my natural Grandmother, but part of me just doesn't feel ready to give up yet!
I'll try the link and if I get anywhere with it I'll let you know in due course.
Thanks again.
