How does one find out if a residence order is in place for a child living with one's ex, if one's ex won't say, especially as the ex lives in Ireland.
Also how does one stop the ex taking the child out of the country without the other's consent, parental responsibility being present.

It seems no ne on here knows the answer.

I'd suggest you contact a solicitor who specialises in Family Law.
You could always phone your local Family Court and the clerk may be able to advise you.

If you do have parental responsibility your ex-partner can't remove the child from the country, I assume it's the UK, without your consent

If you wish to pursue this, you need to do as mrs overall suggested & find a solicitor, however, if you're still in contact with your ex-partner it may be everyone's best interests to attempt an arrangement that suits everyone with the intervention of solicitors

if you have parental resonsibility then a residency order could not have been granted without your input, a copy of the court application must be sent to you. As for the resident parent taking the child out of the country I'm not sure I think they can live where they like. however,my brother's wife did a runner to scotland with his kids, he went to a solicitor who got him into court that day and when she returned the kids on friday at 8pm for a visit a bailif was waiting to serve a temporary residence order in my brother's favour. the kids had to stay with their dad &she had to return to england the following monday and appear in court, a contact arrangement had to be agreed before residency could be granted to mother - so it was sorted in one day!!

the poster doesn't specify whether the child is in the Republic of Ireland or Northern Ireland which will also affect how this is dealt with because if the child is in the Republic he would have to deal with two sets of courts whereas Northern Ireland is subject to UK law.
