hi , my daughter is 15 and is mixed race (white and black carribean) she has naturally curly hair when washed but after a while turns into a big ball of fluff she's at the age now where she would like to be able to do her hair herself and where it down like all of her friends. i have heard mixed views so therefore have not yet done abything as i have been told that relaxers are the answer by some people and natural is best by some people. if anyone knows of a way to help i would be open to hear the suggestions.

best put this question in B&S.
Dominique, a good hairdresser will surely know the answer to this problem.
Relaxers dont work well on carribean hair (which is weaker than other hair) and causes it to snap off! Try Straiteners or strong prof conditioner (L'Oreal) on wet hair & comb strait (makes it straighter).

Try weaving & plaiting with added cotton/silk ribbon to weigh down hair and control.

nb Relaxers are a strong perm solution.....snip a length of hair and soak in perm as pkt recommend; dry between two sheets of cardboard to see result. Pull test hair for strength....if it snaps easily then forget doing the rest of head.

my 17 is mixed race and i would suggest you find a really good afro hairdresser look on the net to find one with a good reputation or she could have it braided corn row style this lookks straight and she can wear it down only needs doing every couple of months and looks amazing..
