How can I start to find my natural father when I don't
have basic information i.e his place or date of birth?
I was born during the war, he was a soldier and I
cannot find out which regiment he was attached to,
which seems to stop further investigation. Any help
would be appreciated. I have his name and other
bits but that's it.

If you have his full name (or middle initial if he has one), it can be found by trawling through lists of births for the approx. years on a Genealogy site. it will produce perhaps, several of the same name born in various places. This might narrow it down to maybe 3 or 4 you can sift through.

I can do this if you want (no charge, I get bored easily!) I believe you can pass your email addy through this site to me , if you would like to take up the offer.
