Al Anon is an organisation, similar to AA, but aimed at families, friends and partners of alcoholics
Is she trying to get out of the relationship?

Tups: Why are you suggesting just because the person is an alcoholic she should get out of the relationship, the poster hasn't stated anyone is violent or anything in the relationship only that they like a drink?

Whoever: my father in law has been in the AA for 20 years and has not touched a drop, it really is one of the most successful organisations. you have to want to stop though.

Tetjam - not a helpful answer. Sarcasm is the lowest form of wit and not really appropriate when people are looking for serious answers.
No, my friend is not at this stage trying to get out of the relationship. She realises there has been a growing problem for some time with her partner and is trying to find help and information about how best to deal with it and try to turn the situation round.
unfortunately it is most unlikely she will be able to make him turn things around unless he wants to and that is most likely to happen if and when he hits rock bottom and decides he wants help.

If he is currently in denial that he has a problem and is unwilling to do anything about it, there is very little she can do.
