I don't know if anyone can help me. I am 28 years old and my fathers name is NOT on my birth certficate, my mother and father split up before I was born. I have met my father and he has never denied me. However I have not seen him for 10 years and want to know how I go about getting his name put on my birth certificate? i hope someone can help me. Thank you.

Adding the fathers name

The fathers name can be added to the birth certificate at a date after the original registration. The Registrar will help you to do this but only if there is evidence that the father is the father, for example, a signed declaration by the mother

Contact your local Registry Office for advice.
hmmm these days they should insist on a DNA test rather than a declaration by the mother, some women lie about that sort of thing.
Question Author
This is what I thought with DNA proving everything these days, he has never denied me and can't but since he re-married he doesnt seem to want to know. I dont want anything from him, I just dont like the fact that it says Father Unknown when in actual fact he isn't!
