My son is doing a 10 mile charity run with a 35lb weight on his back. He has used gravel but it goes not surprisingly to bottom of rucksack. Anyone any ideas how to make a 35lb weight comfortable?

Any army guys out there???
my hubby is army...will ask him when he fones! i know he does a lot of weighted runs. i think he used bottles of water, weights sometimes, even the car jack once! my advice is to make sure your sons back near the bottom is protected as my hubby always comes home with very nasty friction burns. perhaps bandage it up. sometimes the friction rubs are due to something in his rucksack sticking out so make sure that doesn't happen for your son! Good luck to him!
Fill a heavy duty plastic sack, with closely packed wet sand and then tape it all up and put it into the rucksack. It will be soft, so pliable, you'll be able to mould it to the shape of the rucksack.
