Oh my goodness i need a rant!

My eldest (12) is doing my head in! My youngest is 22months and at the stage where he is starting to have tantrums. He followed her up the stairs when she knows he is not allowed to, then when I asked her nicely to bring him down she started yelling, and said 'I never took him up'!! I never accused her, and because she started yelling, he started screaming so then she moaned because he was being noisy!!! I have said countless times, if he starts climbing the stairs then she needs to call me or bring him down so he doesn't have an accident, but she just thinks I blame her even when the subject hasn't even come up!!!! I seriously think I am going insane!!
Phew!! Thanks for that....any helpful comments would be gratefully received!

Nope your not going insane *hug* the simple answer is her age, hormones are kicking in, and she is at that point that they feel everyone is against them and everyone else is put on this planet with the sole intention of getting at them, ask anyone who has lived with girls ( probably boys to, but i never had boys) of that age, they will all be able to relate very similar stories, and probably a lot worse,my standard reply to that behaviour was to calmly tell my daughter that there was only 2 of us in the room, and her behaviour was not impressing me like it did her friends, and then just turn and walk away, no point getting into a pointless argument that achieves nothing but you ending up upset.Stay strong, it does get better, i promise xx
What I think is really excellent about this, is that you've come on here and ranted, it really gets it out of your system without getting into an argument with your daughter. Years ago when my daughter was like this I bought a parenting book about teenagers, which was really good and if I remember the title I'll put it on here. The other thing, is don't take it personal, it probably isn't just her age.
Unfortunatley, my dificulties with mine only resolved when she moved out,,,hope you have better luck
Good luck

hi i have 5 girls ages ranging from 12 to 26 each and every one of them put me through what you are going through at this moment its not easy.. but i found a quiet voice is much better than a loud one... and a hug and a cuddle is much better than stressing out at them
first of all use a stair gate if you dont want your toddler to wander or a play pen works wonders
your 12 year old has hormone changing problems and its not easy for her let alone you
being calm and talking to her showing her love and affection making her part of what you are doing.. i dont mean get her to do the house work and stuff but if your making cakes or cooking dinner ask her if she wants to help show her how to do things ... if she says no then thats ok she will eventually see that you are not against her but with her at her age the whole world and you are the enemy
take a little time out for your self every day.. relax with a nice cuppa and try to remember what you was like at that age and how you got through it
the trouble is as parents we tend to forget we were kids once
good luck
all my girls turned out to be great kids
oh by the way i'm the dad if i can raise mine im sure you can do just as well if not better
