Leaving your toddler in the car

When you go to the petrol station and need the toilet, do you take your child with you or leave them in the car?

To leave a child alone in a car anywhere is totally irresponsible.

if i needed the loo then theyd come with me or Id wait.
if just paying for fuel, they get locked in the car whilst i pay.

If i need petrol, i leave mine in car whilst i pay, I can have my eye on the car which is like 10 meters away, bit different to the maddie mcann situation. Im gonna get attacked now!

I do the same roomster, but if I was going to the toilet, where I obviously wouldn't beable to see the car I would take my LO with me.

Yeah, cant say i have ever needed to use the loos at petrol stations thank god!

katiecarol have obviously only got one very young child, or have about three pairs of arms.

I was lucky enough to be blessed with triplets, so have 3, 11 month old children. Popping out for a quick pee, in a petrol station that are immensly armed with CCTV to catch people stealing petrol, with a lock and alarm on my vehicle, with other people around, why not.

Paying for petrol is easy because you can still see the car. " excuse me checkout lady, could you keep an eye on my car quickly while i use your bathroom?" God! that is difficult. Or, wait a minute Watson! could the person behind the counter be a paedophile in disguise that is allowed to work in a position that would allow them to interact with some children coming in to buy sweets. dont think so.

Anyone who considers it easier for my to take my 3 kids out of the car and put them into a buggy to take them for a pee, while other people are waiting to access the petrol pumps must have far too much time on their hands. No wonder there is so much road rage around.

Personally i would take my child with me, but it does depend on the age, a Teenager would stay in the locked car.

There's 22 months betwen my children, and even now, at 9 and 11, I wouldn't leave them alone in the car. All sorts of things could happen within the space of a few seconds.

Take him with me. God knows what he would do int he car if I left him and he can open all the doors now so it would just be asking for trouble leaving him in it

Would always take my kids and never leave them unattended in this big bad world....locked in the car or not, they will have to come with me...Ive heard several stories of kids getting strangled in electric windows and think of all these things prior to anything I do concerning my babies

so do you take all your kids out of car when paying for fuel?
the windows on my car have child locks, as do the doors and electric windows wont open or close unless the ignition is on.

Plus my two are restained in their seats so if just walking in to pay the bill im happy to lock them in car, i can see them from where i am.
