nursery contrats.

the nursery that i send my child to has been told to clse by ofsted until they can get it up to a satisfactory standard.its a bit worrying. well we have been looking at other nurserys and have put my son in another one.when i joined up with the original nursery signed an agreement that i would give a months notice ,if i decide i like the ursery i have put my son in to now do i still have to give the nursery a months notice even though they are temporary closed?

I would say that the contract was ended at the point that they were unable to fulfil their side of it i.e. they are contracted to provide you with childcare and they can't.

You're not having much luck are you? Did you not have problems with your childminder recently?

yes i did i paid her money for meals and they were not adequate meals so i opted for a nursery which he went to for a few weeks and now as i mentioned as temporary closed until all the faults have been put right.i am feeling so sorry for my 17month old .the nursery he went to tody is ok but you have t pay 100pound deposit,and pay for bank holidays even though they are not open.any way getting back to the original question i didnt want the nursery to send me a bill as the contract said1 months notice.

Hi Hannah, I don't have any advice on your problem except to maybe put this into the law section.

I'm sorry you've been having so many chilcare probs lately, it's not easy, I know! - you posted on my thread about my daughter's nursery not taking good care of her, so I just wanted to say thanks for your concern and to let you know that, it seems to all be sorted now! so I hope everything settles down for you and your son soon too.

You really have had bad luck with childcare haven't you?! I am sure your son will cope with the change. In answer to your question, I wouldn't have thought you had to give the notice. The nursery must have been bad for Ofsted to close it down, they only do this as an absolute last resort.
If I were you, before choosing further childcare look on the website for Ofsted www.ofsted.gov.uk and look up and read in detail the previous inspection reports for the place you are interested in. All nurseries and childminders are graded and it will give you an idea of the quality of care.
