when was the last time you said that or gave a hug to a member of your family or friend ( not your partner)? I never have, never do, cant remember the last time....is it cos i cant remember my mum doing it to me - and she used to moan about my dads family members when they did?

to my kids everyday

Do you think she can hear me ???

keep going leggy............I'm sure you'll get your reward...
Does telling people you love them because you want them to do something count?

I tell my friends I love them all the time and my dad every night when he phones and my middle sister everytime she emails.
I am physically tactile but not verbally so.
Never said I loved my mother, but was forced to by mrs sqad, mother then said "I didn't realise sqad had a softer side to him".....bleedin hell....I never said I loved her again. She died last year and I never grieved.
Never knew my father, so no sweat there then, brought up my grandparents who were very working class and I never heard them say "I love you" to anybody.

Use whatever words you like and whatever words make you happy................actions speak louder than words.
craft im persistant

but the amount of mansize hankies im using is verging on the excessive

what price love eh ???
This morning when I dropped my youngest daughter off at nursery (she works there) - we always have a hug and kiss and say "I love you." It was especially important today because I am off to Glasto now, and won't see her until Sunday. Missing her and my wife already!

Come on andy...it can only be ten minutes.......missing your daughter and wife already????????????/
I have no family to say it too and I don't really tell my mates that I love them! I gave my best friend a hug the other week though when she was going through a tough patch.
I was brought up to show how we felt about people rather than saying it. My parents loved us to bits and nothing was ever a chore for them regarding us. We often smiled at each other, made a joke and generally all felt good but the love word was never said nor even written in a letter or card.
I put myself out for people to show I care and love them and invite them for meals etc but would never say it. Funnily enough it doesn't bother me one iota to say Je t'aime to hubby!
coccinelle.....try singing je t'aime to him.....LOL

My phylosophy is similar to yours and I find that the word "love" is banded about with such gay abandon that it has become meaningless.

I say it to my sons all the time - probably because neither of my parents ever said it to each other in front of us children or to us.

I do say it to a couple of close friends and my brother in law and the dog and cats!!!

My mum never told me she loved me but I always new she did by the way she was , the way she spoke to me and the way she took care of me.Niether did my dad. After she died 12 years ago I made an effort .............kissed my dad each time I saw him and sometimes told him I loved him. Now my sons hug me and kiss me all the time ,one son lives in Holland and we never get off the phone without telling each other I love you......sometimes you need to make the first move....and after you do.....it's easy ..and lovely too
There is a song by Garth Brooks called .....If tomorrow never comes..............................listen to the words..........then make up your mind
Every time I speak to my kids on the phone or see them in real life.
My parents were dysfunctional, unpleasant people but no need I should be. I want my kids to have the best childhood possible and that includes being under no illusions of how much I love them, so I say it very often, and it makes me feel nice to do so:)
Nox I feel exactly like that but couldn't put it into words.

I sometimes wonder why our parents had us - must have been a mistake. But my hubby's parents were far worse and now my mil wants to all nicey nicey to our boys.
Brilliant NOX.
I'm always telling my children that I love them, whether they've been playing up or whatever. It comes naturally to me, because I DO love them very much.
I dont ever remember my mum or dad ever telling me ao i make sure i tell my son everyday and my fiancee
My Mum....rarely.

My Dad....when he was alive :-( all the time. He did treat me like I was about 7 though. He use to come round the house to 'see the kids' and bring me a big bag of sweets....lol

I miss him :-((((((((((
