Presents for young teenagers

I need to buy xmas gifts for a few young teenagers (11-15 year olds), male and female but need help with gift ideas.

Be careful if you buy gift vouchers - Remember the fiasco last year with Zavvi etc when they wouldn't honour gift vouchers even before the stores closed!! Beware.

Problem with buying them all gifts, whether the same or not, is would they all like them? .....some may, some not so much.

I help run an under 16 football team, and we get the lads all HMV vouchers, because kids that age always want to buy cd's, dvd's, games, games equipment, i pods, mp3's etc, and you know they'll be appreciated and used.
They go for a mass spend up during Christmas week and get what they like.
My four children are also well happy when they recieve vouchers, as they say it's better than more socks and hankies, but it is the thought that counts.

Whatever you decide on, i'm sure they'll like it.

you need to ask their parents what they're in to. an 11 year old boy or girl won't be wanting the same things as a 15 year old boy or girl.

......oh, shivvy......... sports shop vouchers are an option also, as we occasionally get them too......teenagers love up to date sports clothes, shoes and equipment etc.

a lot of kids these days dont like to be tied down to vouchers and unless they get a few for the same place they will have to add money to it to buy something they would like. I know its nice to buy a present but the kids themselves prefer money or credit - or maybe a voucher for mcdonalds either !

Yeah, the thing with vouchers is that if £10 is given per child, they can go and get something up that value, such a current CD, as they are all around £10 now for Top 20 Chart, and if they want to spend more on top, as some kids DO get money also for Christmas, they can add to it to get a bigger present.

Kjohn is right so be careful who you get the vouchers from.

Sara is also right that presents would have to be different for the 11-15 year olds......both girls and boys like totally different things at those ages............i would plump for the vouchers or money option, personally.

some shopping centres do vouchers or cards which can be bought at the information desk and spent in any of the shops - a lot of kids may have ipods and not play cds any more - I am the only one in the family who hasnt an ipod - i am the only one who plays cds now

I really do appreciate the voucher/money/credit suggestions however that is not something that I am going to do.

I should have made it more clear that I am not planning to buy one gift to suit all - I will be buying individual gifts. I am just looking for suggestions for that type of age group. I know that they will all have their own idividual interests so I am trying to think of more generic gifts eg a diary for a young girl etc.

shivvy, my 15 yr old daughter wants a £300 mobile phone (that's a no then!), my 12 yr old son wants a(nother) guitar! if someone wanted to spend about a tenner on them (you're most welcome!) I'd probably find out what dvd's are due for release pre-Christmas, and let the parents know what you're getting so they don't ask someone else to get the same.

boots and marks do some lovely toiletry sets for girls - the boys will be a lot more difficult - maybe find out what teams they support and you can get clocks, blankets with teams on them in a lot of sports shops

Individual gifts are harder to get for those ages, but SUCH a wide variety for them, boys and girls alike, at the £10 budget you have, so i wish you luck with it. :0)

For the older ones why not a cinema ticket? For younger ones maybe groovy pyjamas they can use on sleepovers. There are also teenager alarm clocks, if the boys play footie good black football socks never come in wrong, any readers might like the most recent book out by an author they liked, pens, pencils, or anything they can pop into their school pencil cases (not ordinary ones but say Harry Potter ones etc), anything with Nike on but £10 limits you there...

I have a couple of nephews in that age bracket and they always seem to like Lynx gift sets.
I've already got a few stocking fillers for my 14 year old daughter and these include - make up brush set, scarf & gloves, body lotion, hair accessories, some neon fingerless gloves, make up bag, nail varnish set and some posh choccies from Thorntons
