Nursery fees

Just a quick question for those who have children at nursery or work in a nursery.

Are you expected to pay fees for Christmas day and New Years day - even though the nursery is closed?

It's been several years since mine were at Nursery, but I am absolutely positive that we had to pay normal fees for all Holdays.

we pay 1/2 fees to cover rent & similar costs

I had this problem with a nursery bank holidays i work on a monday but not bank holidays but the nursery charge bank holidays.I have found a nursery now that doesnt charge when the nursery is closed,but i think it is up to the individual nursery.I personally think that if the setting isnt providing a service then why should we pay!!

At the private nursery we use, we pay for 51 weeks of the year. Our bill is paid monthly at the same amount, ie: £357 per month (£84 per week x 51 weeks of the year divided by 12 months). This then incorporates the free week per year. I know County Council nurseries are completely different though but you have to incorporate breakfast club price and after school club price as well, if you require care outside normal CC nursery school hours. Also holiday club price when N school is closed.

Don't ask me how the free session pricing works out when the child is entitled to it though, ie: first term after they are 3 years of age - I'm still trying to work it out!!!

i dont pay it at our nursery and this is a sure start centre, we only pay for the days the kids attend and thats 4 times a week 20 hours
