of course he can move in - you are entitled to have a partner living with you at your address - council or not. i would remain in your property but not put him on your tenancy as this would give him extra rights to your property. council housing is secure, cheap and you have obviously been entitled to it at one point, otherwise you wouldn't be living there. ignore all...

Perhaps I am naive, but I honestly thought council housing was for people who couldn't afford private housing and was really difficult to get these days Why should someone who owns a house be allowed to just move into a council property, when people are on council lists and desparate for a roof over their heads.
youre right lottie. It really should be for those in need. But it isnt always the case. Just look how many people managed to buy their council homes, sell them for a profit, spend the money and then claim for anothr house? My neighbour told me thats what he'd done (he had one of those affordable housing ones as his 2nd, right next to my owned house) and that he was waiting 5 years before he could buy the one he was in at something like a 60% discount.
I blame Maggie Thatcher!!
We should go back to social housing as it used to be. I am appalled that my friend's son, a single bloke of 29, who lives with her can just carry on living in her council house (which she really deserved) if anything happens to her.
My son has to scrimp and save to afford a massive mortgage!

The council houses near us have been refurbished to such a high standard I am jealous. We could never afford to have such work done to our house! They also have the most expensive cars standing outside them.
I was brought up in a council flat by the way and it was a life saver for our family just after the war.
It is just not fair that people who really need them can't get them any more.
