Cost Of A Dad Calculated
Although sadly many households contain single parents with children, most in the UK, however, have the complete set of two – a Mother and a Father. Now, it seems, new research has found that having the father around can help with more than just looking after the kids.
The price of having a father around the house has been summated in a new piece of research. A leading investment firm has calculated the money having dad around saves around £12,914.
In terms of playing the handyman, fathers can save the family close to £5,378.50 and is a far cheaper alternative to hiring a professional and probably, with enough nagging, he will do the job on time.
When it comes to household chores, the company revealed that dad can save £4,161.16 with an extra £546.78 to be taken into account if the patriarch likes to use his green fingers around the garden.
Similarly, fathers doubling up as taxi drivers can save around £4,164.16 annually - a sum their children would realise if he could no longer do it.
"If dad were unable to work a family would soon realise that money doesn't grow on trees," said a manager at the company.
You can't put a price on a dad's love but you can put a price on the work he does. A family often see dad as just the breadwinner or walking cash machine. Without a regular wage coming in they would certainly struggle. They need to consider what they would do if dad was no longer working and protect themselves from the unexpected.
The research also shows that more than half the UK's male population (54%) realise the importance of protecting against unforeseeable circumstances and has some form of life insurance, critical illness cover or income protection.
