Need an instant coffee

can anyone recommend a decent coffee, the one i have had has been discontinued by the looks of it, and tried endless varieties before getting that one, so now have to look again. Already have the cafetiere type, so just own brand store type, or something you like than we can try. Some definitely don't care for, douwe egberts was ugh, and like most coffee, it's getting incredibly expensive, so no going to fortnum and masons, or harrods

has it got anything to do with bad harvests, or poor weather conditions, in these various places, but wondered why it's becoming almost too costly to buy.

Far and away the best I've found is Starbuck's Via range.
It's horribly expensive, but worth it.

There are different blends, and they're doing a special Christmas blend at the moment. We've bought enough - beans and instant - to last 6 months.

I think there was a very poor harvest of coffee last year so that has probably effected the price, but don't bank on it coming down if there is a bumper harvest this year.

This years harvest is supposed to be 25% up after 2 bad years .

I though I read somewhere that it was stock-market speculation that had forced the price up.

I only drink it in the morning before work so a jar lasts quite a while. I buy either Nescafe Suraya or Nescafe Blend 37 as they both have good flavours.

I shop in Asda and every so often the Nescafe Suraya, Alta Rica, Cap Colombie blends, which are all good, are on offer at £2 so I stock up then.

We have recently been buying Nescafe instant Espresso, a very respectable coffee as long as it is made as an Espresso.

D97x7, that was what i was wondering, is it the futures market, speculators, pushing up the costs, because i am seriously considering the options, no coffee or restricted to one a day. I begrudge paying 5 quid for a jar of coffee, no matter who are what is to blame. Almost like petrol prices, up up and not away

ratter, heavens, not that, but don't have that much to spread around, so it's not for want of being a miser i can assure you, i asked for recommendations, not what things really cost, as like everyone else i'm sure we already know that. I will be looking around for bargains, so for now, it's easing back.

What I can't understand is people who go to Starbucks and the
like and pay over £3 for a cup of coffee , talk about legalised robbery !
It costs the coffee shop a maximum of 20p a cup what % mark up is that ?
You pay the same to take it away in a paper cup so they can't use the argument that that you are paying for the surroundings / sofas etc.

I have had coffee in Starbucks a few times, I keep going in thinking that the coffee will be better in the next one, it never is, probably among the worst coffees I have ever had, the coffee always seem to taste burnt.

I do love a good coffee, I don't think I will bother trying another Starbucks!!

It's the trend these days to take a cup of coffee everywhere, I can't abide it - you get on the train, every other commuter has one - etc. What a waste of money, every day!

boxy, the cost gets me, i use a coffee flask, and if going on a rail journey, take that, that way i get the coffee i want, well up till now, and can have more than one cup along the route. if you drink one starbucks coffee a day, 5 days a week, that's a lot of dosh. So back to the drawing board, and can't think where there is a lidl, did look at their website, but it just keeps going to the London stores..

There is a way to get great coffee without breaking the bank.

Get yourself a glass plunger-type coffee maker. Tesco is selling a one cup for £5.00. Then stroll along to the coffee aisle. There are lots of ground coffees to choose from but they are selling one of thier own makes called "Cafe Blend"
and its only £1.61 for 250g. Its marked number 4, Medium Strong and its very good value for money. Its in a bright red foil bag, usually on the bottom shelve.The thing about drinking real coffee is that it seems to satisfy you better than instant, even expensive choices like Alta Rica, a favourite of mine.

By the way, are you aware of how the supermarkets try to manipulate us into buying the expensive brands ? They put the cheaper, good value brands on the lowest shelves, not at eye level, hoping you might miss them.

I am short of money these days, due to unemployment problems and I have found out that there are ways to eat well without it costing you a fortune.
