Yet another bit of advice, when you've probably had enough already. With sherry, as with wine, questions of "good" or "best" are muddled in with the question of "what works for me?" Sherry used to be drunk by our grandparents, sitting in one corner at Christmas, and it was always dark and sweet. So try a light, crisp, dry sherry (look for the word "Fino" on the label). Go with dave123456's idea - don't grab a "well known" brand off the supermarket shelf (unless your granny actually is coming round). Look for a Fino that you've never heard of, put it in the fridge, and chill it to within an inch of its life. Drink it early evening or (best of all) on a lazy Sunday afternoon. You can even pour it over ice. It may take a few tries before you find one you really like, but you may hit on something that blows your socks off. And, when you do, think how good it will be to introduce your friends to your new discovery!
