Drinks without sugar, fruit or alcohol
41 Answers
Does anyone know any drinks I can have? For 12 weeks I need to avoid alcohol, tea, coffee, dairy, fruit, wheat, yeast and sugar. I can have herbal tea, but not fruit tea. The only drinks I can think of are water, tomato juice and carrot juice. (I know tomato is actually a fruit, but apparently it doesn't have the same natural sugar content as other fruits).
The next question is; does anyone know where I can buy tomato juice or carrot that hasn't got added sugar or lemon juice?
Does anyone know if Barley Cup contains wheat (because if so, I can have that as my hot drink). I don't fancy just drinking hot or cold water for 3 months. Any ideas would be most welcome.

Thank you everyone. Sadly I can't have beetroot or parsnip because they have natural sugars that are similar to fruit sugars. Apparently I have too much yeast in my stomach and I will feel better when it's gone. I'm almost sure Horlicks contains powdered milk, has anyone got some they could have a look at?
Do you know where I can buy Kelkin juices?
Thank you very much everyone for your suggestions.

depends how strict you need to be, Worcester sauce will have sugar and probably wheat in it as does most soy sauce. Never mind the drinks, what are you going to eat for 3 months? I think I could cope on just water to drink, but the food would bother me more. Can you have caffeine? If not, the rooibus/red bush tea is herbal and caffeine free. Would you be allowed Coke zero? it has no sugar or lemon juice. Are you doing the cambridge diet? I have a friend who does that and she says she is allowed coke zero but not diet coke.

I can have salt. So if salt is the only added ingredient to Tesco Tomato juice, then I can have that one, thanks.
I only need to avoid these things for 12 weeks so it shouldn't be too hard. Everything I have listed in the main body of the question, has to be cut out including decaf tea and decaf coffee. I think Caro is made with wheat, but hoping that Barley Cup will be ok. Also thanks for your reply re Horlicks

I checked Horlicks and it does have dried milk in it. But I also found this:
"Barleycup comes in both powder and granule form, and is made up of soluble solids of roasted barley, rye and chicory."
Sounds OK? I used to drink this and got quite used to it. Definiately better than hot water for months.

Thank you all very much for your help. Articial sweeteners is another thing I can't have I forgot to mention before. I have been told I can have Rooibush, herbal teas, green tea and fennel tea, but I don't like those. When I had Barley Cup years ago I liked it, but don't know if I'm allowed it (depending on it's wheat content). I'm going to have rice milk as my milk. (which tasted lovely on porridge this morning). Finding savoury food is not a problem, thank goodness, I just had my Sunday roast without Yorkshire and gravy. Can't think what to have for sweets/puddings though. I will avoid the Worcester sauce, because I want to do this properly and feel bouncing with health. Tesco is sounding promising.
