Bistro 1, on Southampton Street (which is just a short walk away), is 'Mediterranean' rather than purely Italian but it's cheap and good.

Il Posto in Vauxhall Bridge Road is Italian and it;s fabulous. Iy's about 2 miles away from St Martins lane

It is very good, Il Posto, but a wee way off their track........used to work nearby so used it often.
