Hi we are arranging a christening for my niece in 2 weeks and a few family members are chipping in with the food, by making sandwiches ect, we have invited 125 people. We cant afford a caterer and will be providing a hot and cold buffet (as church hall has a kitchen)
apart from the usual boring sausage roll, quiche, cold pasta pork pies ect which nobody is wants or really likes in my family does anyone have any ideas on what to make for 125 people? has to be tasty, veg and meat options, also cake options-thanks so much i am at a loss

Roast vegetable couscous
thai chicken skewers with peanut sauce
Individual sponge buns with a pic of the baby on (you can get the pic part done in tescos)
Individual frittatas-bake in muffin tins
cold roast chicken drumsticks
felafel
mini burgers
How about chicken breasts-hot or cold and fruit salad, nice, and also healthy? Small apple pies are nice-maybe small egg custards if your family like them? (yuk)
Mini yorkshire puddings filled with roast beef and pickle; coronation chicken; chocolate brownies, baked in shallow tin and cut ln squares. fruit crumble cooked in large dishes and served straight from them, served with jugs of cream or custard.
Depending on what time of day it is, even large dishes of shepherds pie, always a winner.
As well as the above suggestions, I find a huge mound of boiled baby new potatoes in mint & butter go down well.
I'd also have a selction of bread rolls, and maybe a cheeseboard with a variety of suitable biscuits

I find a big vat of chili con carne goes down well, too.
How about bring your own picnic?
a couple of bits of bread, a fish and a conjuring trick and you could start your own religion
