What is a 'scrunchie'?

A chip shop has just opened in our area and we've had menus put through our doors. One of the items listed - in amongst pie suppers, pizza etc - is 'scrunchie'. You can have a whole scrunchie or half a scrunchie, with or without chips. What on earth is it? (The menu doesn't list a phone number, otherwise I'd phone the chip shop. I won't be down that way for a few days - and am just very curious.)

yes bobbi instead of using elastic bands.in your hair. Get them in all colours of material.

Have trawled the internet - and one site said a 'scrunchie' is a 'deep-fried battered pizza'. Think the hair accessory might be a better option!

Joy - I was thinking along the lines of the Deep Fried Mars Bars - perhaps Scrunchie is the same.

Down in Essex a Scrunchie is one of those rather fetching elasticated hair thingy bobs. hahaha

Yip, deep fried Pizza - I got one by mistake one (asked for 'deep pan' counter staff heard 'deep fried'). They are truly disgusting, they squeak with grease. The only thing I can compare them to are spam fritters - yuck.

oh god pizza in batter seriously cause there is just too few calories in pizza as it is even on my worst hangover day I could not crave that.

Yep it is a battered pizza, we have them up here called pizza crunch, have to admit, I do have one now and then, the kids love them, main lunchtime food for school kids from what I see them eating, have yet to try a deep fried mars bar, now thats a step too far.
