Hi all,

Can someone help me - am trying to make cowboy beans but the recipe says pinto beans - I can't find them in sainsburys - can I use haricot beans instead?

Thank you for your help

No idea what cowboy beans are but if it says pinto i would try to use them....they are 'meatier' than haricot beans..... my ex used to make refried beans often and if he used other beans instead of pinto it didnt taste the same

OK thank you

well I am at a loss with the pinto beans so will have to try it with the haricot!!
it'll probably still be nice, the refried beans were okay if he used something else, they were just better with pintos.. good luck anyway :)

seems a shame I have not recieved more replies :-( but thank you for all your help and for bothering with a sad man whose not very good at cooking ;-)
More replies? I've had both dried and canned pinto beans from Sainsbury recently, so perhaps yours isn't very big? I would, however, use anything that I DID have, in your circumstances!

Cheers Gingebee, not very good at cooking so will give it a go with the haricot, and yet the sainsburys I have locally is quite small.

Mexicans in cowboy films? Yes your right there could try it with kidney beans.

not sad at all :)
