Fantastic drink

About 30 years ago I was dating an Italian, I visited him in Venice where he was a head waiter in a restaurant. In St Marks square one evening we had a wonderful cocktail. It was a sort of strawberry liquor topped up with champagne and crushed ice added. I am desperate to know what the liquor was called as ive tried some others but its not quite the same, any ideas?

Chambord (black cherry liquer) and champagne or cava is very nice.
