A friend and I visit many farmers markets and food shows and we both love piccalilli. We have discovered that we have very different tastes and rarely agree on the pickles we taste. I can only suggest you visit some farmers markets and food shows and taste what is on offer, from personal experience you can spend a lot of money and fill a lot of shelf space with disappointment.
And before anyone suggests making your own......making a batch of piccalilli and experimenting with a recipe can be a frustrating, costly and time consuming activity to discover it's not quite right. Living in a household of one pickle/chutney eater adds to my frustration as I am the one who has to eat the reject batches!

My Dad quite likes Tesco's own Mustard Piccallili, and he's quite a connossieur. Believe me, I've been trying for years to find one that 'tastes like it used to' and this is the nearest I've found in taste and colour.
If you want a really authentic one, Gary Rhodes used to have a marvellous recipe for one. That's if you can be bothered to make it yourself? I got it from a magazine, so whether it's online, I don't know. I MUST go to bed!
