We are having friends to stay next week ,we know one is an insulin reliant diabetic, and I am searching for interesting dishes to serve.I dont want to create just single meals for them, and it seems a little rude to ask them directly.

If you search for Diabetic Menus on Google, quite a lot of sites come up.

I certainly wouldn't think it rude to ask - it shows that you are considering your friend's health, I would find it quite acceptable to be asked!

My mum got diabetes and I found this site for her, it helped with recipes, menu's and general 'problems'.

I would ask them as not only is there the illness to take into consideration, but likes and dislikes or other allergies, there's nothing worse you slaving all day over a hot stove then the meal to be left because they are allergic/don't like a certain ingredient.
yeah, just ask them ma1den, it wont harm.

im a diabetic, and i wouldnt mind what you rusted up to be honest!
mind, we do have to watch the ol intake of carbs, and sugary things of course.

but as a one off, im sure he/she will be fine and will enjoy whatever you cook :o)
*rustled up, even!
Don't get "hung up" on this diabetic menu lark.......take the advice of loobylooo.
yeah, i agree sqad,

if i was going for a meal at someones house, i wouldnt expect them to cook anything different for me.
i'd just sit and enjoy!

our diet isnt THAT restricive anyway, and for a special occasion.. well.. itll be fine!
its more portion control if anything, and the carbs,
ie if i was having rice id maybe forgo having bread aswell, or id have less potatoes or something. its easy enough for us to guage the food.

and if there were puds on offer, id just go careful and not have a mega big slice of gateau like every one else is having!
i certainly wouldnt go without if there was something tasty calling me, thats for sure! lol

theyll know what their limits are ma1den, so dont worry :o)
nice though that youre giving them some special thought :o)

(can you give us an idea of the type of food youre thinking of putting on for your friends, just so we can have a look and see what we think?)
As suggested above, a "balanced diet" is the current approach to diabetics' food, just as it is for everyone else. So, as long as you keep deep-fried Mars Bars off the menu, you won't go far wrong!
