They wouldn�t have had lollo rosso lettuce or mange tout flown in from Kenya, so a few hearty roast root vegetables (potatoes, parsnips etc and roast carrots are lovely) (yes, I know they didn�t have potatoes until the 17th (?) century, but that�s not the point).
Mead is probably a bit of an aquired taste, besides, you will not have enough time to ferment your honey, so if it�s a particularly chilly April evening, something along the lines of mulled wine may go down well.- in fact treat it a bit like a Bonfire Night party - with hearty fare for a (probably) chilly evening.
Can�t really help you with games, but following on from acw�s suggestion, you could try �Run Away From The Welsh�, or one of the great Crusader games such as �Raze Constantinople�. Failing that, perhaps acw could find out what they do for St George�s day in Moscow, Georgia, Aragon, Barcelona, Bavaria, Beirut, Czechoslovakia, Serbia, Lithuania and Hungary, since they also share the same patron saint!
