Chop all the veggies you like, chop up some chicken breasts into cubes. Boil anypasta up. Fry the veg and chicken, add about a tablespoon of flour, about half a pint of milk (give or take any white wine if you like) and thicken. Season with a chicken stock cube and add the pasta. Yum
pizza
Stew left in the slow cooker all day
Chip shop occasionally
Quick chicken casserole:- dice cold left over chicken. Pour over can of condensed soup. Add mushrooms if you have them, peas or sweet corn maybe. Basically whatever you heave and fancy.
Heat in microwave andserve with rice or baked pots.
Tin of tuna in cheese sauce, serve as above. Nice with onions added.
this sound really boring but it works - every saturday morning we (the family) decide what we're going to have for tea for the following week. We all say what we fancy and I try and utilise what we've got in the freezer and store cupboard.
It means i can plan ahead; shopping is easier on sat afternoon, 'cus i know exactly what i need; the list goes on the fridge and so no-one says "What's for tea?"; best of all, it stops that terrible - having-to-think-what-to-do every day.
I think you should sit down for half an hour at weekend and decide together. Better still give everyone a night each where they decide and then they cook it!
i forgot to say what sort of things we have:
sausage casserole and rice
chicken breasts wrapped in bacon with veggies and mash
roast chicken (or other joint) dinner, cus we rarely have it on a Sunday
smoked chicken, homemade coleslaw and baked pots
coca cola ham, salad and chips
spaghetti bolognese
spaghetti carbonara
morrocan chicken and couscous
chicken supreme and rice
shepherd's pie
a big breakfast ('cus we NEVER have time in the mornings)
homemade chicken or turkey burgers on buns
something out of the freezer night
takeaway night
all of the above are chosen because of ease, cost and we all like them.
God, i'm starving..........what shall i do for tea?
mince and tatties,
stovies (if any meat left over from Sunday),
fresh pasta (filled), mushrooms and cream cheese,
chicken fahitas,
various stir fries,
new potatoes, cold meat and salad,
pasta with bacon, leeks, peppers and cheese sauce,
fish pie.
I can prepare, cook and serve any of these in about 1 hour whilst having a glass (or two) of wine.
Hallo Linda, there were some good suggestions from an earlier question for recipes you could do in half an hour. Enjoy!
