My Father-in-law, who wouldn't normally ask for any assistance in the kitchen, has done me the great honour of asking me to produce one of my much-loved trifles for Christmas Day pudding.

Is there a particular dish your loved ones appreciate you for?

My Beef and Ale pie

I'm making the Christmas trifle this year NoM, would you care to share your recipe?

Hi Mazie.

For the base, I slice strawberry and white chocolate muffins (available in both Tesco and Asda).

The next layer consists of Hartleys Black Cherry pie filling, which is gently warmed before going on top of the muffin layer.

The third layer is custard, which is allowed to chill and set before I sprinkle broken up Cadbury Crunchie bars all over that. Then freshly whipped whipping cream on top and finally crumbled Cadbury's flake on the very top.

Not a hint of jelly or sponge fingers in sight!

Not really sometimes i think that my husband doesn't realise how hard it is to work full time and think about what to have for lunch and tea, get it and cook it. ok, so it's not as hard as somethings but it does wear me down! in his defence he does a lot of the other stuff round the house

Do you have a special technique, CH? Do you stir anti-clockwise? Add the milk before or after the granules/water? ;-)

All of my family & extended family love my Sunday roasts. My young daughter loves my risotto & pasta. I have converted many people who say they dislike this or that & when I say 'you'll like it if I cook it' they usually do! I'm lucky as I enjoy cooking very much and so it's nice when other people do appreciate it. I do like the sound of that trifle - so I'm sorry, but I'm going to steal too!
