New types of insulin make it so much simpler for a diabetic these days. The dieticians tend to recommend a good healthy diet more or less the same as would be recommended for non diabetics. However, my daughter is an insulin dependent diabetic and she adjusts her insulin doses according to her sugar levels and what she is going to eat. I suppose there are different suggestions for Type II diabetics. The best thing to do would be to get advice from the diabetic clinic attended by the diabetic
Surely your taste buds are towards the back of the tongue and some would be sure to go down no matter how hard you tried not to swallow it. As for diabetics eating chocolate they can eat what they like as long as they keep it to a minimum and adjust it to their insulin needs. So not necessary to chew and spit out.
