'New potatoes' in M&S

It says on the packet they're a UK product. Are they grown under glass or in polytunnels to be available at this time of year?

Seems they come from specially prepared cold-store seed potatoes for winter growing.

As long as thy're kept free from frost you can grow your own new potatoes for xmas. I expect commercial growers have tunnels.

in the course of my job, i used to visit an elderly chap in his own home and he always grew his own new potatoes to have at christmas. he grew them in a bucket in the house.
